Fire Damage to Gas Plant Substation

At 0751 hrs; three cubicles of the 33KV Switchgear Board were severely damaged by intense internal fire, heat and smoke. Damage to cables and panels resulted in major business interruption to on-going construction project. Initial loss estimate was put at US $5million.
 
Defective Welding in Gas Plant

Discovery of defective stainless steel welds in a liquefied natural gas plant in Nigeria resulted in the need to re-examine and carry out necessary repairs of about US$ 25million.
 
Petroleum Products Pipeline Fire

Delta State, Nigeria

Petroleum products pipeline fire at Jesse, Delta State caused by alleged vandalisation of pipelines resulted in the loss of over 1000 lives. The neighbouring communities however sited old age of pipelines, corrosion and lack of maintenance for the failure.
